Green Hill Tower at 1070 Green Street was the first condominium high-rise to be built in California. Developed by the firm of Meyer & Young, the 19-story, 48-unit building opened in 1963 to much fanfare.

The new condos were sold by Walter H. Shorenstein in the range of $40,000 to $255,000, a high price at the time. “The 48 residences are not inexpensive,” the developers wrote. “They were never intended to be, because Green Hill Tower is for those who expect all things to be done well.”

Nearly 50 years later, the same words could be said of life at Green Hill Tower — it is still for those who expect all things to be done well. The building has aged very well, and has undergone the kind of renovations that keep it one of the City’s most desirable condo buildings.

Of course, the Russian Hill location and world-famous views of the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco skyline don’t hurt!
